Violet L. Norman, 101, of Duluth, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Essentia Health. Violet was born in Duluth on January 10, 1914, to B.W.K. and Gjerda Lindau.
Violet attended Arnold and Central High School, graduating in 1931. She was a nanny for Hiram Elliott's family before her marriage to John F. Norman, in 1938. They lived in Chicago for two years before moving back to Duluth in 1940. Violet cared for her family and quietly worked in the background.
Violet belonged to Holy Rosary and St. Michael's parishes during her lifetime. She helped with Ladies' luncheons and the Used-a-Bit Shop. Her favorite place was at home spending time with her family. Music was something she enjoyed, Patsy Cline was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, John F. Norman; son, James M. Norman; granddaughter, Heather Crawford; brothers, Henry, Paul, Adolph.
Violet is survived by children, Margaret Wright, John F. Norman Jr.; grandchildren, Bill (Jill) Gates, Bonnie (Jim) Stone; Brenda (Mike) Russom, Bob (Tracy) Gates, and Dawn Norman; 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Margaret L. Kreager; brother-in-law, Doug Norman; and other, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Service will be 11AM, Friday, November 6, 2015, with visitation one hour prior, in St Michael's Catholic Church, 4901 E Superior St, Duluth, MN 55804.
