Virginia "Ginnie" (Jones) Claveau, 88 of Edgewood Vista, Hermantown, died Friday, May 2, 2014 with her family by her side. Ginnie was born April 21, 1926 in Ashland, Wisconsin to George and Signe Jones. She was raised in Cornucopia, Wisconsin and graduated from Port Wing High School in 1943. Ginnie went on to the St. Luke's School of Nursing and graduated in 1947.
Ginnie married Robert Claveau on August 28, 1948. She spent 20 years as an RN at St. Luke's, retiring in 1969. She moved on to teach nursing at Lake Superior College until 1986.
Still not tired of nursing she spent several years as a volunteer at St. Luke's.
Ginnie was very active at her church, French River Lutheran; she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting; she and Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends and that always involved a fine meal that Ginnie prepared.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob in 2011; son David in 2002 and her siblings, Charles, George and Paul Jones and Julieanne Sikorski.
Ginnie is survived by her son, Bruce of Braidwood, IL; daughter, Linda (Jim) Leindecker of Green Bay, WI; grandson, Darren Leindecker of Buyck, MN; sisters, Emmy Lou Anderson and Patsy Iacopetti.
Visitation will be Tuesday beginning at 1pm with Services at 2pm in French River Lutheran Church, 5310 Ryan Rd. Burial at Lakeview Palmers Cemetetry. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to French River Lutheran Church.
