Virginia Johnson

March 8, 1932 — April 10, 2016

Virginia "Ginny" Johnson used the last of her
heartbeat supply on Sunday, April 10, 2016. She passed
away peacefully, with family by her side and in the
tender care of St. Luke's Hospice. She was 84.
Ginny was born to George and Nellie (Dahl) Frazer
in Duluth. She would stay a lifelong Duluthian; she
skated in the Ice Follies, graduated from Central High
School and would raise two kids with her husband Harry.
For over thirty years, Virginia served as President of
the Board for the Aftenro Home senior care facility. She
conceived and saw through an extensive program of
construction and renovations for the bene?t of the
residents and well-being of the staff. Ginny also devoted
time to Glen Avon Church, Rebekah Lodge, Duluth Adult
Recreational Skaters, Duluth Scottish Heritage Association,
Three Links Nursing Home (North?eld, MN), the Boy
Scouts (Troop 9) and the Girl Scouts (Troop 83). The
happiness and warmth of the lifelong friendships she
made throughout those organizations sustained her to
the end.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry,
sister Joyce and her parents. She is survived by her
daughter Ann Marie Johnson and her son Dave (Gail)
Johnson, all of Duluth, and many extended family
members.
Our profound thanks to Dr. Dan Skorich (Miller-
Dwan). Thank you to the compassionate nurses, doctors
and medical staff of St. Luke's that were so involved
with her care over the past few years. Thank you to Dr.
John Van Etta, a true gentleman. Mom always said all of
you were wonderful.
In keeping with Ginny's vigorous life, the hearse will
run just a few more errands on the way to the cemetery.
