Wallace LeRoy Goulet “Lee”, 72, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with his wife of 50 years by his side on September 14, 2016, at Solvay Hospice House. Lee was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 8, 1944 to Wallace Sr. and Lois. He graduated from Benilde High School in 1962, he then enlisted in the Navy; where he traveled and spent most of his time in the Caribbean. After, his time in the Navy he went to business school. Upon his graduation he started working for the Minnesota Department of Revenue where he retired as a Regional Supervisor in 2011. Lee was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, he was the head usher, greeter, and in charge of the garden committee at St. Benedict’s Parish, Franciscan Apprentice with Franciscan Sisters of the Holy Eucharist, and he also attended University for seniors at UMD. Lee’s greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren and working in his flower gardens. He was a devoted father and grandfather, seldom missing a sporting event, concert, art show, etc, or a chance to drive “Grandpa’s Taxi”. He was a real people person, a good friend and neighbor to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Renee Graffi.
Lee is survived by his loving wife Marianne “Susie”; children, Jeff, Tracy (Mike Archibald), Jason (Shannon); grandchildren, Malique, Isaiah, Micah and Elijah Goulet, Allison and Emily Archibald; daughter by love, Paige Salyards and family; sisters, Barbara Thotland, and Rita Martinez; numerous, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7PM, Friday September 23, 2016 in the Dougherty Funeral Home, visitation will continue Saturday from 10AM until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial, beginning at 11AM in the church of St Benedict's, 1419 St Benedict St, Duluth, MN 55811.
