Walter Thomas “Tom” Fredrickson (May 5, 1932 – May 4, 2019)
Tom was born to Walter and Janie Fredrickson on May 5, 1932 in Chicago, IL. He was raised with his four siblings in St. Louis Park, MN, until moving to his parent’s hometown of Duluth in 1947.vvTom graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1950. After high school he joined the Duluth Air Guard and was activated during the Korean War. He earned an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and became a proud CPA. After meeting Betty Lachowski at a dance hall, they were married on September 10, 1955. Betty gave birth to their only son, Mark Fredrickson, on July 27, 1965. He started his accounting career with Peat Marwick in Minneapolis, MN. He after a few years he returned to Duluth to work for Pedrazzetti, Grover & Lockhart. In 1967 he and Dick Studley started Studley & Fredrickson and later merged with Broker Hendrickson & Co. in 1970. In 1972 Tom left his former practice to start Fredrickson & Kolquist. He proudly ran Fredrickson & Kolquist Ltd. until his early retirement due to health issues in 1987. Tom was also a long-time member and former president of Ridgeview Country Club. Tom and Betty spent many happy winters in Florida and summers on Island Lake until her death in 1998. He was blessed to find love a second time, marrying Gail Peterson. They were fortunate to spend 20 happy years together on Little Grand Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Janie Fredrickson, sister Pat Figen, sister Gwen Rouse, and brother David Fredrickson. He is survived by his wife Gail Fredrickson of Saginaw, MN, brother William (Mary) Fredrickson of Pacific Grove, California, son Mark (Deborah) Fredrickson of Duluth, stepsons John (Barbra) Peterson, Tom (Heidi) Peterson and Doug Peterson, grandchildren Samantha Fredrickson, and Spencer Fredrickson, step-grandchildren Hailey and Aaron Peterson and many nieces and nephews. Memorials to the American Heart Association or Ridgeview Country Club. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 7, 2019 from 10AM until the 11AM Memorial Service in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. 1710 E.
