Wesley "Wes" W. Sorensen

Wesley, “Wes” William Sorensen, 60, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Ecumen Lakeshore with his children at his side after a 10 week battle with glioblastoma cancer. Wes was born March 26, 1963 in Athol, Massachusetts to Ron and Joy Sorensen.  He graduated from Duluth Central and received his bachelors degree from UMD. Wes worked as a driver for UPS a majority of his carreer, but most recently worked for MSOP.

He enjoyed the outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing or simply walking through the woods. He had many memories at deer camp, the Boundary Waters, and Island Lake. His three kids were his pride and joy. He first earned the title “grandpa” in 2020, but within 3 years welcomed three more grandchildren, whom he loved more than life itself. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Sorensen and his sister, Dianna Rust.

Wes is survived by his father, Ronald Sorensen; children, Grant (Morgan) Sorensen, Kristin (Lucas) Anderson, and Kaitlyn (Dan) Buck.  His grandchildren, Blair and Benett Sorensen, Tessa Anderson, and Ella Buck; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 27th from 5-7pm, at the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2^nd St. Duluth MN. Visitation will continue Friday, July 28th from 10am to the 11am memorial service at Water’s Edge Community Church, 2202 West 3^rd St. Duluth.
