William Miller

William Lee “Bill” Miller, 75 of Duluth MN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a prolonged illness.  It was fitting that Bill passed on Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, as we were able to celebrate and give thanks for all he was to our family.  Bill was born on January 11th, 1941 in Duluth MN to LeRoy and Kathryn (Stratioti) Miller.  Bill grew up in Superior WI, graduating from Superior Cathedral in 1959.  After high school Bill entered the workforce and, while working for American Linen, he met his wife of 49 years, Joy Jeanette.  Bill and Joy were married in April of 1967 and together raised two children, Steven and Maria.  Bill worked the majority of his career for Kraft-General Foods, retiring in 1997.  In his “retirement” years Bill worked for Valley News establishing a new territory in Northern MN, WI and the UP.  Bill enjoyed home improvement projects, sailing, biking, NASCAR and was an avid reader.   Work and hobbies aside, Bill’s highest priority was his family.  He was a constant presence at his children’s and grandchildren’s events.  He was always there to help his children as they built their lives and homes; there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family.  He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife Joy, son Steve (Cindy) Miller and their children: Nick, Anthony, Christopher, Andrew and Kathryn; Daughter Maria (Jeremy) Bellamy and their son Jack; Brothers Tony (Mary) Miller, Dean (Mo) Miller, Sister Penny (Pat) McGrath, Step mother Arloine Miller, Aunts:  Dolly Penny, Fran Stratioti and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov 28, 2016 in the Dougherty Funeral Home

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Nov 29, 2016 with visitation 1 hour prior in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1419 St Benedict St, Duluth, MN 55811.
