Yvonne Louise (Shenett) Beaudry, 78 died peacefully in her loving husband's arms surrounded by her family on December 1,, 2014.
Though she is gone, we are comforted that her struggle of 14 years with Alzheimer's disease has ended. Yvonne was born in Duluth on February 9, 1936 to Leo and Frances Shenett.
She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Cathedral High School.
Yvonne married her high school sweetheart Bill on July 25, 1953. Together they moved from Duluth to Sioux City, IA, on to White Bear Lake, MN and then returned to Duluth in 1968, to raise their family of 6 children.
For years, Yvonne was Bill's fishing and hunting partner. Many fun times were spent at the Deer Shack with family and special friends Herb and Greta Lindgren. Yvonne and Greta spent hours target shooting, eventually becoming crack shots! They shot their deer every year!
As a multi-talented wife and mother, she was a remarkable seamstress, an amazing chef, even taking on the challenge of bringing home-style meals to the St. John's School lunch program, where she was a cook for several years. Her expertise was baking; Yvonne created artistic delicious cakes for all her children's weddings, and hundreds of weddings and parties throughout the community.
We will always remember the special holiday parties she gave for her family. Every year she always celebrated Christmas with a "Happy Birthday Jesus Party " for her grandchildren and Easter egg hunts; keeping Bill busy hiding eggs all over the yard.
She lived her faith, always putting others before herself. Yvonne was a gracious hostess, making everyone feel welcome. Her love and giving were endless and that is how she will be remembered.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ruth Bianchet, Jeannie Thompson, Patsy Gasper and brothers; Larry and Joe Shenett.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 61 years Bill; children, Maria Arseneau (Mark), Ann Beaudry Jazdzewski, Liz Goldfarb (George), Dan Beaudry (Mindy), Jenny Beaudry (Tom Antonich), Andre Beaudry (Trish), 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and brother Jon Shenett (Vicki).
The family thanks Heritage Haven Staff and special care givers; Bertha, Tanya, Carmen, Jenny, Tawanna and also St. Lukes Hospice.
